Collaborative Concepts was founded in 2015 by a group of friends, colleagues and sometime competitors who owned, managed and developed properties on campus at the University of Illinois and the surrounding Champaign-Urbana community. As the name suggests, conceptually there was a common belief that by collaborating and joining together to “group purchase” common expense items through preferred vendors and service providers, value could be generated for member property managers while also creating contracting efficiencies and increased sales volume for the preferred vendor network. Through this approach, best practice contractual terms and aggressive fee schedules have been negotiated. By word of mouth and through relationships with property managers on other campuses and contiguous communities, the Collaborative Concepts business model is being expanded regionally and nationally.
